Whether it’s a sunrise paddle, a long gravel grind, or telling stories and cooking marshmellows over an open fire, this gift guide is for the one who’s always ready for the next mission. The all-around adventurer is equal parts prepared and spontaneous. They love gear that goes the distance but also makes everyday moments a little more exciting – like spotting a bald eagle with your kids or brewing a perfect cup of coffee on the tailgate before their run up the peak.

Here’s what’s topping our family adventure gear list this season.

Solo Stove Campfire Camp Stove

This little stove has quickly become one of our favorite additions to every adventure. We’ve taken it on river trips, car camping weekends, and even on a kiddo backpacking trip! The fact that it’s fully contained, burns clean, and is so easy to transport makes it a total win. It now has a permanent home in the back of our adventure car—and yes, it even fits inside a 70L Hyperlite backpack!

This winter, we’re planning to bring it along on a few ski touring family missions for some evening s’more sessions. It’s the perfect gift for anyone who loves making safe campfires wherever the trail leads.

Rockie Talkie Expedition Radios

If your crew likes to spread out on the trail or during a ski day, these are total game-changers. Lightweight, durable, waterproof, and with an impressive range, they make communication easy—and honestly, really fun.

Our family has used them for everything from river trips to mountain bike missions to neighborhood adventures where the boys want to explore the woods on their own. It gives them a sense of independence, and I love hearing their excited reports about what they’ve discovered out there.

So far, our longest test was about six miles apart on an adventure race vetting mission. We were out in the backcountry where there was no service and had to split up to check out two different routes, and with at least two valleys between us, they worked flawlessly. The manual claims an eight-mile range in backcountry terrain, and after seeing how well they perform, I believe it. I’m especially excited to bring them on the ski mountain this season, since we always seem to get separated mid-run.

This is a great gift for families or friends who love venturing deep into the backcountry, these rockies are the perfect mix of fun and safety.

MiiR Coffee Pour-Over + Traveler Mug

Because coffee just tastes better outside. This minimalist pour-over system from MiiR is perfectly packable for camp mornings, road-trip pullouts, or even mid-ride or hike coffee breaks.

As a born-and-raised Alaskan, where coffee is practically its own love language, I can’t imagine a day without it. Infact, even when I take breaks from caffiene, I still drink decaf because I love the taste and the ritual. That’s why I love bringing this setup along for my solo early-morning missions. Instead of waking the whole house with the grinder and kettle, I’ll pack the MiiR pour-over and make my cup out on the trail—or at the top of a peak.

It brews a strong, flavorful cup that feels like a reward for getting outside. Honestly, it’s so good that it’s started sneaking its way into my daily at-home routine too. Pair it with Miir’s Camp Mug and your favorite bag of beans, and you’ve got the ultimate gift for your adventure-loving coffee drinker.

Arcade Belts Recco Stretch Belt

Whether your adventure of choice is ski touring in the early hours, hiking along remote ridges, or simply living out of the car, the Recco Stretch Belt earns a place in your gear bag. Built with performance stretch webbing that moves with you and a low-profile buckle that stays discreet under layers, it’s designed for motion and comfort.

I know what you are thinking, a belt for a present? What makes it so special anyway? Well, yes it is a belt, but at some point or another everyone needs a belt. Arcade belts are travel-friendly (metal-free webbing makes airport security easier), machine‐washable, and crafted from recycled materials (85% post-consumer REPREVE® yarn). They are also easy to adjust and can (as I’ve found out a few times) be used for securing things in a pinch! Also they are embedded with two RECCO® reflectors, which means in remote zones you’re searchable by rescuers using RECCO detectors,no power required.

For me, it’s the perfect everyday‐meets-adventure belt: comfortable enough for long hikes or kiddo missions, subtle enough for morning coffee dates, rugged enough to pack for a winter ski mission. If you’re searching for a gift for the person who has everything (or a well-earned upgrade for yourself) that blends safety, utility, and low-fuss gear love this is it.

Benchmade Station Knife

If you or your adventure chef friend ever wished there was one tool that could cover both campfire prep and weeknight kitchen work, the Station Knife is it. This is a minimalist workhorse. Seriously, it has a fixed-blade, it’s durable (the blade is made from CPM- stainless steel), and it’s built for field-to-table utility. One of my favorite features is that it comes with a molded sheath that drains, making it very practical for camping as you don’t have to worry about water pooling when you stow it away. My husband loves it’s SelectEdge® technology, which basically means the edge is super clean and stays sharp, and for some reason if and when it dulls, BenchMark says it will sharpen your knives for LIFE! All you have to do is send them in and they will do the rest, more details are here in case you don’t believe me (I didn’t either), And lastly all of their knives are made in the USA, which just feels right. For those looking for an even bigger gift, I also love their Custom Three Piece Set, it has a knife for anything and everything you need done in the kitchen or out in the wild. If your looking for a functional and effective gift that is built to last – this is it.

AOS Skin Doctor Salve

When you’re headed outside, into early morning ski tours, to your local crag or rock gym, on a long bike ride or even on a long weekend car-camping with the kids – your skin takes as much of a beating as your gear. That’s why this salve is a constant in our pack (and has been for going on 10 years!).

This little tin is all-natural and built to work hard: infused with arnica and St John’s Wort to speed up healing, plus calendula, hemp-seed oil and beeswax for serious hydration and repair.

We’ve used it for cracked heels during our river trips, blister-prevention during adventure races, on multi day bike packing trips (for happier butts!) and on countless kid cuts. My kids always ask for Skin Doctor before anything else when they get any sort of cut. It’s lightweight and rugged enough to toss in your pack and the healing power of it is like nothing I’ve ever used before. This is a great gift for anyone in your life!

Garmin Enduro 3

This watch was made for those who’s adventures span dawn to dusk and sometimes well beyond. The Enduro 3 is designed for ultra outings, long training days and the kind of missions and races where charging is not an option.

With it’s large screen, serious battery (up to 80 hours in full GNSS mode and 320 hours in GPS mode with solar power), this is a powerhouse of a watch. It’s lightweight yet rugged (just ~63 g with the UltraFit strap) and packed with top-tier tracking, maps, recovery metrics, and performance insights for endurance athletes. I’ve had mine now for over a year and it has survived and lasted through multiple 5 day expedition races. It’s the perfect gift for any athlete who loves to explore and needs the extra power and support to get you out there, track your stats and get you back home. Pro tip: pair it with a good chest strap, I love this one from Garmin that clips to your bra strap – no extra straps needed!

Patagonia Nano Puff

Every adventurer needs a lightweight puffy jacket in their arsenal, and the Patagonia Nano Puff is the ultimate mid-layer. Also known in our house as the “magic or sufferfest” jacket (depending on what we are doing). For years, it’s held a permanent spot in my “mandatory” kit.

It stays warm even when wet (I’ve tested this to the max, swimming across many glacial rivers in Patagonia!) and dries shockingly fast. It’s that perfect mix of lifesaver and comfort piece, the one you pull on when the wind picks up, the sun drops, or you just need a little extra warmth while sipping coffee at camp.

The fit moves effortlessly with you, from hiking and climbing to skiing and chasing kids around and at just 346 grams, it barely adds weight or bulk to your pack.

If your adventure buddy doesn’t have one yet… it’s time.

Nocs Provisions Standard Issue Binoculars

Small, waterproof, and built to go anywhere, these are such a fun tool to have in your pocket. Whether you’re looking for wildlife at camp, watching your kids navigate their first solo mission, or scanning the horizon from your rooftop tent, Nocs bring clarity and play to every outing. We keep a pair in the car at all times. They’ve survived river trips, toddler hands, and a fair share of drop tests. We have both the binoculars and the Inspector MicroScope for those times when you need a closer look with us on every family hike. And while yes, it does sometimes make it go slower, it’s totally worth it and has become a great “world school” teaching tool for even our daily walks outside the front door.

Hootie Hoo Kids Base Layers

And let’s not forget our smallest adventurers! These cozy, durable base layers from Hootie Hoo are made for wild play and chilly mornings. We love the kid-approved comfort and the fact that once they are on for the day, they don’t come off because they can take on such a wide range of temperatures. In my opinion everyone needs a pair of base layers that they can live in for a few days. For the past three weeks we’ve been going to our cabin and all we’ve been bringing out there is a pair of base layers, a pair of adventure panrs and a puffy. Ever since it started getting darker and colder out, our boys have been living in these. The inside is nice and fuzzy while the outside is a bit more durable and holds up to rough play outside. I know that these may not be the best gift for kids because likely they will not be overly excited about base layers like we are, however consider it a gift for you as these will likely get them out the door more and lead to less complaints of being cold while adventuring!

SPS/LST Contour Sweats

For the adventurer in your life who basically lives in their sweatpants. My husband is the ultimate explorer — always planning our next mission — but he’s also all about comfort. Enter the Contours from SPCLST. They’re rugged enough to handle back-to-back adventures, yet cozy enough for lounging at home or long road trips between them.

As soon as he gets up, he puts them on and goes about his day — gear loading, coffee runs, kid wrangling, map studying, you name it. I love them because they actually look good and have held up impressively after countless adventures and washes.

If you’re looking for a versatile, functional gift that’ll quickly become a daily go-to — these are it.

Ciele FRDWintertights

Because cold-weather training doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort or performance. The FRDWintertights from Ciele Athletics is built to go beyond “just warm enough” and into “I’m moving even when it’s freezing out” territory.

They are designed for runs, snowshoe treks, and early-morning cross country and skate ski laps, the FRDWintertight features strategic wind and sleet-resistant C0 DWR-treated panels, reflective detailing for low-light safety, and zipped-phone and mesh pockets for fuel and gear.

I’ve been wearing them for the last three weeks on every early morning run and they have been amazing in the temperature and fit department. No sliding down, and my legs stay warm enough to walk when I want and stay cool when I want to push. Last season they were also my go to for my early morning skate ski sessions and they were perfect for both the hot and sweaty hills and the cooler/ speedy descents.

For any adventurer, especially those who coach, train, or wrangle kids in the cold this is the kind of layering piece that makes every late fall/ winter outing even more fun. Lightweight (just ~210 grams in some versions) and built for movement, these tights are a perfect addition to your (or your recievers!) morning ritual: out before the world wakes up, coffee in hand, and the mountain horizon ahead.

USWE PACE 14L Trail Running Vest

If your adventures mean long days, mixed terrain, and a pack that needs to move with you—not against you—this vest is made for that. The PACE 14L is built to handle big ultras, offering front and rear access, serious storage, and the kind of fit that stays put when the trail gets rough.

The patented No Dancing Monkey™ 4-point suspension system gives you a secure, bounce-free fit even during dynamic movement. And the elasitic side panels adapt with your body so the vest moves with you. If you follow me or our team at all, you have most likely seen us in these packs ALOT. One is hanging by our front door because we literally use it on every run and ride that we do.

Whether it’s a river loop, a race or my solo pre-sunrise mission, this vest has earned its spot on our “daily wall”. It keeps gear accessible, hands free, and the motion smooth. No bouncing water bottles, no shifting load, no distractions. If you or your person doesn’t have their ultimate running/biking/adventuring pack yet, this is a perfect gift for them.

Skida’s “Country Mitt”

For those who live for winter, these mitts say: “I know your hands go places, and I’ve got your back—no matter what you throw at me.” Seriously though, I think these are the warmest, most functional, and prettiest mittens I’ve ever owned. At first, I thought they’d be my “around-town” mitts—perfect for driving or e-biking through town—but after one ride, I could tell they were built for way more.

Two weeks later, I’ve worn them every single day. From snowy hikes to early morning rides and family walks, these are now my “everyday play” mitts.

They feature a tough goat-leather shell that stretches and molds to your movements as you wear them, paired with a plush fleece liner that feels like a hug for your hands. Each pair is hand-stitched in Vermont at the century-old Vermont Glove Company, and finished with a stylish, functional paracord cinch strap that keeps them snug and warm around the wrist.

While I haven’t tested them yet on the slopes or for XC skiing, I’m confident they’ll be perfect—not too cold, not too hot, and built for real adventure. If you’re shopping for someone who believes in layering for comfort, performance, and style—these mitts are it.

Wrapping It Up

At the end of the day, the best gifts for adventurers aren’t just gear—they’re invitations. To get outside more. To slow down around a campfire. To share coffee at sunrise, or call out to your kids over the walkie talkie as they chase their own mini-missions. Whether it’s the Solo Stove that brings everyone together, the Garmin Enduro that keeps you moving from dawn to dusk, or the cozy Contours that make rest days feel just as good as summit days—these are the things that make adventure part of our daily life.

I hope you both enjoy and get inspired by these picks!
